Getting started
Get Indexly installed on your store and your data indexed in a few minutes.
1. Install Indexly
- Go to the Indexly listing on the Shopify App Store.
- Click Add app and complete the install flow in your Shopify Admin.
- Open Apps → Indexly in your admin to reach the app.
Production stores are asked to choose a plan (Starter or Plus) before using the app. Both plans include a 3-day trial. Shopify handles billing confirmation. Partner development stores can use Indexly without a paid subscription.
2. Wait for the initial sync
Indexly starts an initial bulk sync automatically after install. You do not need to pick resource types first or click a start button.
All resource types are indexed by default:

Indexly uses Shopify's Bulk Operations API to pull your full store history. For most stores this takes a few minutes; very large stores with hundreds of thousands of orders may take longer.
You can monitor progress from the Search home screen (sync status in the footer) or from the Sync status panel on Settings. Once the sync completes, your data is ready to search.
To change what is indexed later, open Settings, toggle the options you need, click Save Settings, then Rebuild Index so historical records match your new choices.
3. Make your first search
- Stay on the Search page (the Indexly home screen).
- Type any value into the search bar — a PO number, warranty ID, customer reference, SKU, barcode, or any text you might have stored in a metafield or order note. Results update as you type (at least 2 characters).
- Results appear grouped by resource type (Orders, Customers, Products, Variants, Metaobjects).
- Each result shows exactly which field contained the value and provides a direct link to the record in Shopify Admin.
4. From this point on
Indexly listens to Shopify webhooks and updates the index automatically whenever a record is created or changed. You do not need to re-run the full sync unless you want to rebuild the index from scratch.
Use Datacheck to define data-quality rules (for example, flag B2B orders missing a PO number) once your index is in place.
